MusicNOW 2010 is a little more than a month away, and the anticipation for the event continues to grow. We already know about the excellent three night lineup with Joanna Newsom, St. Vincent and Justin Vernon. But now, we get yet another gem to add to the mix.

At last year’s Midpoint Music Festival, the Daredevil Christopher Wright played in a cramped showroom normally reserved for selling Segway Scooters. There were sound problems – not to mention a surly sound guy – that caused the band to improvise. Looking back, I can’t recall what those sound problems were, but I can say that after years of Midpoint shows, it was one of the best I’ve ever seen.

Friday night at the Southgate House I went to a show that featured one of the best triple bills I’ve seen in a long time. Memphis Country Punk drunks Lucero headlined a three-fisted power punch that also included their labelmates Glossary and Dave Hause of The Loved Ones.
