We got wind of a couple new Sufjan Stevens holiday songs today, I know, crazy right. The prolific holiday songwriter teamed up with Bryce and Aaron Dessner of The National for a new version of “Silent Night” and we also get the less traditional tune “Barcarola” as well.
After a little over three years of serving as a home for live experimental music in Cincinnati, Northside’s Art Damage Lodge will be closing its doors at the end December. For the first time ever since writing for ENS, I am refraining from submitting my top albums of the year. 2010 had some great albums (Local Natives’ Gorilla Manor, Yeasayer’s Odd Blood and Vampire Weekend’s Contra, to name a few), but I didn’t listen to nearly enough of them to culminate a list of favorites.
Last year, our friends from Vandaveer released a free Christmas EP that we fell for right away. Well it looks to be a tradition as we just got word that a second Christmas EP is finished and ready for downloading.
