Age Rings – Look, The Dust is Growing

Age Rings
Ive got another unsigned band to pimp today, who came to my attention thanks to all the extra time I get to devote to music now that Im at WOXY. Age Rings are an outfit out of the Boston area that have a really great sound which combines lots of heavy guitars and percussion, but its not too much for those that are a little lo-fi inclined.

I think the band shows some strong Pavement influences throughout this disc as well. Which is not easy to do and many have done a poor job when attempting to conjour up Malkmus – like sounds. Age Rings however, have impressed not just myself but all of us at WOXY already and are getting alot of spins on the station as a result. That being said, you should give these two songs a spin yourself. Tell me what you think.

Also, some additional Age Rings goodies can be found by way of a Flophouse session they recorded recently. Thanks to Bradleys Almanac for the tip off on that one…..

Hey Joe – I’m going to see these guys tonight. I’ll try to get them in the Woxy half-nelson to encourage them to get thee to Ohio!

Ah. Check that. I just saw the Myspace mention that they will be there in March. Very good.
