The rumors have been flying for some time as to whether or not Nick Spencer, (organizer of Desdemona) would relocate his bar, Alchemize and if so where. Im sure he gets asked about it constantly, Im sure because even I have asked him. I was curious about the old Lava Lounge location. But Nick said the aucoustics for bands there are horrible.

Well, today we find this on Nick’s blog.

So everyone knows the rumors about alchemize moving. Well, let me just say, its mostly true. We are saying our goodbyes to Over-the-Rhine very soon. The crime and blight has gotten out of control, and the city isn’t doing its part to change things. So, in order to offer our customers the best possible experience in the safest and nicest environment, we’ve decided to relocate.

We likely won’t stay downtown. Rents are way too high, and we’ve just had too many negative experiences.

And no, we’re not going to the Levee. It would be fun to be close to the Southgate House, but I just don’t think we’d fit in. It would be a little scary to them, I think.

Sooooooo… what would you all think of Covington?

The location is a short walk from Clique, The Mad Hatter, Powerhouse, The Madison, LaRosa’s, and Skyline. Its got tons of parking, almost all of it free. Its easy to get to and hard to miss.

So, I want to hear what you think. Will you follow us if we move to Covington? I’m really convinced we can do what we do now, but really offer it at a higher level there. Change is good, right?

I say go for it Nick, many will follow and you can count ENS in even more often than we are now for gigs. If thats possible…..
