I have been really enjoying the debut record from Anthem In over the past couple of weeks and it finally made it back to the top of my stack this morning and I knew it was well overdue to mention them here.
This Brooklyn by way of Atlanta based 4-piece bring to mind some of the bigger hitters in the indie pop lineup almost immediately. The first two songs on the album, “Moving On” and “Down” easily fall into the Ben Gibbard school of pop music, sometimes leaning towards the Death Cab side and occasionally towards The Postal Service. But leaving it at that would be lazy, as the guitar work and overall layers of Anthem In’s debut are way more than a DCFC tribute.
