So, you probably have already noticed this booking, but Band Of Horses are coming back to our fair city early in the new year. The trio that is now based in South Carolina will be headlining at the Southgate House on Sunday January 27th along with two other singer songwriters we really like in Cass McCombs and Tyler Ramsey. Tickets are 15 bones and can be had at the Southgate website.

And the night before, well, that might be an even better night to catch Band Of Horses if you don’t mind heading south to Louisville. BOH will be headlining the Halfway To Forecastle show at Headliners Music Hall and the rest of the acts are also more than noteworthy. Among the supporting bands are Catfish Haven, Coltrane Motion, Early Day Miners and Cass McCombs and Tyler Ramsey will be there as well. Wow, I just might have to do both nights. More on the Halfway To Forecastle event….

All ticket proceeds will benefit Louisville BMX hero and FBM-owner Jimmy Levan, currently recovering from serious injuries sustained after a skate boarding accident in New Jersey. The indoor / outdoor party will be high-energy and nautically-themed, decorated top to bottom with props and decor straight from the Carolina shoreline.

Tickets will go on-sale Saturday, Dec. 15th @ 10AM through Ticketweb, Ticketmaster, and ear-X-tacy Records. 91.9 WFPK and Band of Horses will begin pre-sales next week, for what is an expected sell-out. Check out the schedule here.

And if you need a rundown of the Forecastle Festival, hit up this link. I am really excited about what is brewing down in Louisville this year for Forecastle and you can expect to hear alot more from me on it as we lead up to the festival next summer.

About

Joe started ENS in 2003 after most people he wanted to talk to about music were worn thin by his ramblings. The outlet this site provided helped out, and somehow is still going 9 years later. After a four year stint as a WOXY DJ, Joe returned to Cincinnati and continues to pioneer ENS. In addition to the overall look and feel of the site, Joe provides regular reviews, and kinda makes sure this whole thing stays afloat.

i hit up forecastle for the first time this summer and was *way* impressed.. i didn’t know half the bands there beforehand, but nearly all of them impressed the hell out of me, and the park space was great. the halfway fest looks to be shaping up as well, should be a fun time..

That’s great news, but why is almost EVERY good national show at Southgate happen on a Sunday?!?!

because Sunday night’s kind of the booby prize for bands & booking agents, often one step above taking the night off. they’re not going to waste a major market gig booking a show on a sunday, they get the prime nights, so bands’ll play a secondary market as an alternative to not playing at all.

Yeah, that’s what I’ve always figured. It’s still annoying, though.

…you said ‘booby.’
