Here at ENS we are big fans of Natahsa Khan, aka Bat For Lashes. We mentioned that back here and are excited that the debut album from Khan and her band is now hitting US shores tomorrow via Caroline Records. Bat For Lashes sound falls somewhere between Kate Bush and Cat Power for me, which makes it easy to enjoy. Also noteworthy, is that her album, Fur & Gold is a 2007 Mercury Prize nominee!
The US version also has a bonus track attached, a cover tune of Springsteen’s “I’m On Fire” that is certainly worth hearing if you are already a fan. Have a listen to a song from the album below and check out this video for “What’s A Girl To Do” also.
i’m so excited about the us release. guy garvey of elbow has been playing bat for lashes on his show for months and months (despite a move from xfm manchester to bbc 6), which is how i found out about them. they actually remind me a little of nick cave at times, only with a woman singing. great stuff. i was so happy to see woxy pick this one up.
nice post, i would like to hear more from you i subscribed!
