Its really difficult to write about all the great and deserving bands that cross my radar. Especially in a timely fashion which will get the word out round about the time an album is getting ready to hit shelves. While many bloggers are always early to the party, and we are too lots of times, sometimes fashionably late is, well, fashionable.
Such is the case with Ashland, Ohio’s Bel Auburn. The debut album, “Lullibies in A and C” came out last month and there was some nice and deserved blog buzz surrounding it. The central Ohio band did what lots of young bands are doing these days to get the word out and made their entire album available for download from their website. While I do agree with this as a creative and valid marketing tool, people should be paying for this one.
Bel Auburn brings a certain comfort to their music, and that is not to say that you will be Lullibied (is that a word) to sleep as the title suggests. With the pop soothing of a Coldplay, Bel Auburn makes you quickly forget Ashland and fixate on something much more beautiful than any midwest town can be. Tunes like “Blind Ward” and “Metropolitan” are favorites of mine, ill share those here. However, you can still download the entire album, free of charge at the BA website.
