Every now and then its fun to let the blogosphere blow up about a band, herald it to exhaustion, and then, when the dust settles, dig in. Thats what I did with Birdmonster. I was well aware of all the attention they received earlier this year and how blog buzz has essentially pushed them into another publicity stratosphere.

What I had not done is really give the music a proper listen. So, finally, I got my hands on some tunes from the soon to be released, “No Midnight” and found it quite accessible and didnt find myself nodding off at all. Which is more than I can say for some of the other “blog bands” ive run across this year.

I think the best way to describe Birdmonster is to say that they play fairly straight-forward rock music. The sound is comparable to many indie bands but I wont play the comparison game with these guys. I cant seem to put my finger on it so Ill just say they sound like, well, Birdmonster.
