Is there any correlation between the Chicago White Sox playing in the team and citys first World Series since 1959, and Sufjan Stevens Illinois album both colliding this year? Official album of the team anyone? Ok, very doubtful on that, actually The Chicago Tribune reports that the Chicago White Sox have selected rock band Journey’s 1981 hit “Don’t Stop Believin’ †as the team’s theme song for its World Series bid. Ouch, I guess they dont mind that the song mentions Detriot and not Chi-town. I cant decide if that is better than the choice of Brad Lidge and the stros…..
And not to leave out our friends down in Houston, the WS has never been to that part of the country before……
Music has changed quite a bit since Chicago hosted a World Series game in 1959 too, the top ten from that year would suggest.
1. Mack The Knife – Bobby Darin
2. Kansas City – Wilbur Harrison
3. What’d I Say – Ray Charles
4. 16 Candles – the Crests
5. A Teenager In Love – Dion and the Belmonts
6. I Only Have Eyes For You – The Flamingos
7. Sleep Walk – Santo & Johnny
8. It’s Just A Matter Of Time – Brook Benton
9. There Goes My Baby – Drifters
10. Come Softly To Me – The Fleetwoods
Ill take Sufjan over most of that anyday, though a couple of those are classics eh?
Sufjan Stevens- Chicago
