Let\'s Get out of This Country
Camera Obscura continues to make catchy and dare I say pretty indie pop music. On thier second full length album with Merge records the six piece Scottish band seems to be hitting on all cylinders. Known already for her clever songwriting, Tracyanne Campbell adds a element of sincerity you may not have heard on “Underachievers Please Try Harder”.

The album begins with the infectious “Lloyd, I’m Ready To Be Heartbroken” which exemplifies this band at its best. Tracyanne and her mates have a sound that somehow manages to fill all the gaps of texture without pushing every frequency with noise. More of the same can be found in the title track to the album and the romantic and personal side on the band is felt on tracks like “Country Mile” and “Tears for Affairs”. Still, the shadowing of fellow Scotts Belle and Sebastian is ever present and you may even think that is what you are hearing in a unfocused moment. But make no mistake, Camera Obscura deserve to be set apart and appreciated for the melodic indie pop that is “Lets Get out of this country”.
