Unknown Mortal Orchestra coming to Cincinnati

Post Thumbnail of Unknown Mortal Orchestra coming to Cincinnati
 Cincinnati, MP3s and Music News

In the past 3-4 years, one of the most popular sounds in the indie space is lo-fi. Which is a common way to describe indie rock that was recorded with an intentional ‘dirty’ sound. While some have cringed at the intentional muddy sound of bands like Times New …

There is another great show coming to the Cincinnati area, and we want to make sure you check it out. Interpol are returning to Cincinnati in a couple weeks after having a May show cancelled after the band decided to instead play a run of shows opening for U2.

Interview: Interpol’s Daniel Kessler

Post Thumbnail of Interview: Interpol's Daniel Kessler
 Cincinnati and Interviews

The last few years have been ones of drastic change for Interpol. The college radio superstars’ move to Capitol records proved short-lived, yielding only one record in more keyboard-leaning (but perhaps not as consistently lauded as their early work) Our Love to Admire. Since that time, the band …

Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. pit stops in Cincinnati

 Cincinnati and Music News

Ok, I’ll admit it. I basically ignored Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. for months because I thought their name was downright silly. I’m not an anti-NASCAR person, or even against the occasional irony stricken band name, but I just looked past it after I got a press email letting me know about the band for the first time.

Iron & Wine and The Head & The Heart in Cincinnati

You may have first his voice on a burned mix CD someone gave you in mid-2002; his hushed voice whispering the lyrics to “Such Great Heights.” But Sam Beam of the indie-folk outfit Iron and Wine has been cranking out records for the better part of a decade. What’s left to say about the group that hasn’t already been said in the blogosphere?

Post Thumbnail of J Roddy returns to Cincinnati tonight!
 Cincinnati and Music News

It seems like it was just yesterday when J Roddy Walston and the Business were getting started. These days, one of our favorite rock bands is big timing it, opening for the likes of The Hold Steady and Weezer while holding things down for a great record label.
Yep, our …

Post Thumbnail of Buffalo Killers share new song from upcoming album
 Cincinnati and MP3s

If you happened to catch Buffalo Killers during Memorial Day weekend on the Metromix Stage during Taste Of Cincinnati, you know they played one of the best sets of the weekend. The Cincinnati trio was as polished as ever during their set, which included a bunch of new material. I spoke with the guys afterwards and they seemed really excited about the new album coming out this summer.

UME playing Cincinnati tonight

 Cincinnati and MP3s

The first time I heard UME, I became a fan. The first time I saw UME perform live, I became a big fan. The Austin based band has been at the front of the pack in my mind for a few years now, so it’s exciting to welcome them back to the Cincinnati area tonight for a show at the Mad Hatter in Covington.

Can Bogarts rebuild their image?

Post Thumbnail of Can Bogarts rebuild their image?
 Cincinnati and Music News

Some interesting news out of Clifton today as the historic venue Bogarts has a brand new ‘venue within a venue’ to promote. The news got me thinking about a conversation I have on a regular basis with music friends around the city. Can Bogarts rebuild their image?
