Christmas is almost here, and the amount of holiday songs clogging up my inbox is a bit more than I can handle. I like to highlight some of my favorites though from time to time, and this song from Silver Swans is excellent.

We got wind of a couple new Sufjan Stevens holiday songs today, I know, crazy right. The prolific holiday songwriter teamed up with Bryce and Aaron Dessner of The National for a new version of “Silent Night” and we also get the less traditional tune “Barcarola” as well.

Last year, our friends from Vandaveer released a free Christmas EP that we fell for right away. Well it looks to be a tradition as we just got word that a second Christmas EP is finished and ready for downloading.

Daniel Martin Moore is back, and I guess he never really left now did he? After a long 2009 which saw Daniel touring with friend Ben Sollee promoting their album Dear Companion, Daniel is ready to release his second solo album early in 2011.

It’s great to live in a city where local music continues to blossom, and we have yet another new band to introduce to you today. Technically, Walk The Moon are not “new” and have been rising for awhile now, but they are about to hit a big milestone this weekend with their first official album release. Walk The Moon have already garnered praise around Cincinnati for their energetic live show, and now that they have laid it all down for this album, it won’t be long before more well deserved praise starts flowing in.
