The 6th annual Nelsonville Music Festival recently announced their lineup, which includes headliner Loretta Lynn, plus Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, Man Man, Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears, Buffalo Killers and The Swell Season.

Last night, The National performed on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. But this was not just any performance, it was the unveiling of another new song! Yes, we are big fans here at ENS, so getting to hear another new tune from the now titled upcoming album High Violet.

It’s March, and that means that the concert season is about to peak. Whether a band is heading to SXSW or coming back across the country or not going to Austin at all, alot of live music is “Coming To Cincinnati” in the next couple of months. Among them are David Bazan and Headlights, two acts that have a nice following nationwide and in our city as well.

It’s that time of the year again. Time for the bulk of the music industry to descend upon Austin, Texas for SXSW. And that also means it’s time for several Cincinnati bands to make the trip to the festival as well, hoping to turn a few heads that might not already know about them. One of the benefits of being a music fan and living in Cincinnati is the close proximity of other metro areas around us that sometimes will bring in a tour in that is not making a stop in our beloved hometown. This past Sunday was such an example as the Avett Brothers and The Low Anthem made a stop in The Egyptian Room at the Murat in Indianapolis.

From the moment they took the stage with their classic song “Skankin’ To The Beat”, Fishbone brought the furious funky fire to Covington’s Mad Hatter Monday night. On a package tour with fellow 80s ska mates The English Beat, Fishbone followed Outlaw Nation from Louisiana and Cincy’s own Pinstripes.

2010 is turning out to be a pretty exciting year for new music and new bands already and today, we have another act to introduce you to. No No Knots are a Cincinnati group that is starting to get some attention after a couple of live shows and whether or not you have heard the name, you probably don’t know much about them yet.

Just prior to their EP release show at the Southgate House, Cameron Cochran and Henrie Wilson of Pop Empire sat down with Each Note Secure to talk about their new album and the upcoming CD release party. The Rainy Child EP release party takes place this Saturday at the Southgate House.

At last year’s Midpoint Music Festival, the Daredevil Christopher Wright played in a cramped showroom normally reserved for selling Segway Scooters. There were sound problems – not to mention a surly sound guy – that caused the band to improvise. Looking back, I can’t recall what those sound problems were, but I can say that after years of Midpoint shows, it was one of the best I’ve ever seen.
