I’ve never been a fan of the whole “official release” thing. To me, when music comes out, it’s out, and if you get your hands on it and enjoy it, then it’s current. So whether it’s Mumford and Sons getting loads of credit for an album that has been available for a year and a half or mainstream radio finding out about Silversun Pickups years after they caught others attention, the whole delayed appreciation thing is a bit bothersome.
