A band you will most certainly be hearing alot from in 2009 is Royal Bangs out of Knoxville, Tennessee. The band released their debut on their own back in 2006, titled We Breed Champions, and it caught the attention of Patrick Carney of The Black Keys.

He liked it so much he signed the band to his Audio Eagle label and reissued their album in 2008. The guys went out for a string of dates with The Black Keys last year, and are doing a handful of regional dates as the headliner right now, including a stop at the Southgate House in Newport tonight.

These guys are loads of fun live, so you should really consider hitting the show tonight. In the meantime, check out this great song they performed at WOXY.com last year, which is new and unreleased…
