It is the time of the year again when the CEA nominees are announced. I was honored to be one of the people that nominated some of these folks this year and while I won’t tell you who I nominated, I will list all of them here. First off I will list the categories that will be of most interest to the readers here, all of the noms after the jump. Voting for the CEA’s will be starting soon and I will be sure to provide an update then. You can also watch Spill It for updates from City Beat’s Mike Breen.

Why wasn’t Bad Veins nominated for best new artist. They just turned one year in september.
Good question chris, maybe nobody gave them a nomination for that, can’t recall if I did or not…
And I totally agree with you JLove concerning Bryce, much deserved.
Thanks for the kind words for the best curator around. I agree. Mark your calendars friends, MusicNOW 2008 will happen April 3, 4, 5, 2008. The venue is booked, the acts are lining up and we should announce artists later this fall.
Thanks again.

I’d vote Bad Veins for best Alernative/Indie Rock, Buffalo Killers for best Rock, and Over the Rhine for best Musical Ambassador of the City, as they are in the midst of their most ambitious, national tour in many years. (Why is Heartless Bastards getting so many nominations? Their latest album is from August 06, and they have been far less visible thatn in earlier years. I love these guys, don’t get me wrong. I’m just wondering.)
That said, I am excited to hear that MusicNOW is returning next April. I couldn’t make this year’s event as I was in China at the time.
How do you vote? I see my band (Pomegranates) has a couple nominations.
I don’t think voting is open yet Jacob, I will be sure to post here when that changes…. Good luck to you guys!

Bryce Dessner gets my vote for Musical Ambassador for Music NOW. The National is great, but the Music NOW Festival was a truly special event for the city. (And I hope that they do it again this year)
