It has been a fairly dry summer for good live music in my opinion, but this extended weekend (tonight included) is pretty damn good.
- First up is TV On The Radio tonight, it’s a shame the gig is at Bogarts. Their album Return To Cookie Mountain was one of the best from last year.
- Friday night has two excellent bands playing here in town, Interpol at the Madison Theatre and BRMC at Bogarts, ugh again (to Bogarts).
- Then, we dive into the weekend and Sunday has the Sonic Muse Festival, which should be a great day of music indeed. Featured national headliners are….
Ted Leo & The Pharmacists
The Hold Steady
Matt & Kim
While some of the best Cincinnati bands are also playing the festival
Bad Veins
The Seedy Seeds
Pearlene
Viva La Foxx
The Great Depression
And more…..so hit up the Madison on Sunday night, and in the event that you are not into those bands, you have yet another option, as Rasputina and My Brightest Diamond are playing Southgate on Sunday night as well. Get ready for the MP3 bonanza below…..
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club – Berlin
Ted Leo & The Pharmacists – Bomb.Repeat.Bomb (1954)
Rasputina – Cage In A Cave
My Brightest Diamond – Disappear
The Seedy Seeds – Changes Less States
Pearlene – Watch The Way
Bad Veins – Gold & Warm
UPDATE: There had been some doubt about whether or not Ted Leo would be performing due to a family emergency, but it looks like they’re still on for Sunday after they just got done playing Lollapalooza this afternoon. Woo-hoo!
Dinner break? You think you’ll be able to come and go? That would be nice, seriously.
V.much looking forward to it, but a little annoyed that there is no info ANYWHERE on who plays when…
Good news on Ted Leo, kinda the band I am most looking forward to seeing…
12:00 pm
Looking forward to Sonic Muse. Any day seeing the Hold Steady (and the rest of the great lineup) is a rockin’ day… even a Sunday night.
I’m interested to see how the whole “festival lineup” thing works indoors. Dinner break at White Castle?
