(The Read)
Before I go any further, this is post # 1,000 on ENS!
A fixture in the Cincinnati area now, the Cincy Punk Fest is back again this year with another stellar lineup of bands. The fest is all taking place at the Southgate House this year, and there are quite a few acts I am looking forward to hearing. Both Friday and Saturday night have a strong mix of great local acts, with my guys J Roddy Walston & The Business playing on Friday night as well.
And by the way, all proceeds from the Festival this year go to The Lions Rampant’s former drummer and cancer survivor Alex Brauer.
Here are some bands I am especially excited about……
Friday
The Read
11:45-12:15 in The Parlour
Still one of the best kept secrets in town, The Read have just recorded new material with Brian Niesz (Heartless Bastards, most of the bands in Cincinnati) and are primed for the next steps.
The Seedy Seeds
10:-15-10:45 in The Parlour
New songs on the way? I’m hoping for them, but either way this is always a fun set…..
J Roddy Walston and The Business
12:30-1:00 in The Parlour
One of the few bands from outside Cincy have played here enough in the past couple years to almost be considered a local band. If you have not heard them live yet, well, you gotta see this.
The Turnbull AC’s
1:00-1:45 in The Ballroom
With a new album on the way very soon, this set should be full of great new songs……
Saturday
Knife The Symphony
8:30-9:00 in The Ballroom
After thier great self titled EP, this is another band that should be ready with some new tunes.
Junior Revolution
9:15-9:45 In The Ballroom
Their debut album, It’s A Process, did not get enough attention, but it is a great all around start for this 4-piece.
Alone at 3am
10:00-10:30 In The Ballroom
The third band in a row on Saturday that will impress, these guys just dropped their debut album and it is really great. Look for a full on writeup here on that very soon.
The Lion’s Rampant
11:30-12:00 In The Ballroom
Always a party, always…..
There are sooooo many more too many to mention in this space, but check out the entire lineup after the jump, showtimes and all……
