The Cold War Kids were supposed to be in the midst of a tour with The Futurheads right now, and one of the scheduled stops was here in Cincinnati. However, The Futureheads canned the tour altogether, and although CWK decided to keep the dates, Cincy was dropped in favor of Bowling Green, OH. As strange as that may sound, it was probably the best move for the guys, Bowling Green is a college town and probably brought in a better crowd than Cincinnati could have on a Sunday night.
Even so, Cold War Kids were kind enough to drop into the WOXY lounge yesterday afternoon on thier way to Indianapolis. Much has been said about these guys in 2006, some great, some not so much, but in my humble opinion they are an excellent band that is worth your attention. Ive seen them live once before and really enjoyed the two EPs released earlier this year.

The guys have since signed a deal with Downtown Records and just released their official first full length record, Robbers and Cowards. I dont have the audio from the set yesterday just yet, but I can tell you what the boys played if you didnt catch it live on WOXY.

The audio podcast should be available very soon, but until then, here is some CWK tunage to keep you at bay. The guys have a handful of covers on their website right now for download, here are two that I really like. These are from a benefit show they recently did.

Cold War Kids – I Dont Wanna Grow Up (Tom Waits Cover)
Cold War Kids – Indoor Fireworks (Elvis Costello Cover)
You can find the rest of the tunes here.
