It feels like forever ago when I was getting my first listen to Cymbals Eat Guitars and their brand of guitar thrashing indie rock. Truth is though, it was only about three years ago. In the time since then, the band put out their debut album, then had it released to a wider audience, played live with bands they looked up to and garnered a Pitchfork Best New Music distinction, and no matter how you feel about they, it certainly helped launch CEG to even more fans.

Now, the band is taking another step forward as they prepare their second full length album. They announced this week that they are signing to esteemed indie label Barsuk Records, which seems like a great fit. They plan to hit the studio soon to begin work on the new record, with John Agnello (Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr., Kurt Vile). In celebration of this news, the band have released a great cover tune for your consumption of Guided By Voices great song “Gleemer” on Sirius XMU.
