If you are a fan of all things Elephant 6 Collective and decided NOT to make the trip north to Columbus last night for the show, well, you missed another great set and another appearance by Jeff Mangum himself. Our live reviewer Dave was on hand and filed a quick report after the show….
I was standing over Jeff’s right shoulder, and it was one of the most surreal experiences of any of the musical moments I’ve had in my life. It was a perfect close to an evening of celebration for the Elephant 6 crew. The crowd was relatively quiet and respectful all evening, and you could honestly hear a pin drop during this song, and also during “The Fool”, that Julian and Scott Spillane performed in the midst of the audience earlier on the set, anticipatory of the closing. Mangum’s voice is absolutely as amazing live as it is on record, and sounded even more vulnerable and beautiful live. The fact that Julian joined him with the singing saw was a brilliant touch, and only added to the beauty of the moment. Surreal.
Check out some video of the show last night below as well. (Video is very dark, but the audio sounds great)
