I have to admit that this one came out of nowhere for me. While Elk City has been making music since 2001 they were new
to me and I’m glad I ran across them. They make some straightforward rock tunes that are instantly enjoyable. It’s easy to see some Pixies influences, and lead singer Renée LoBue’s vocals bring to mind Patti Smith as well. There is also some really exceptional guitar work on the record courtesy of former Luna guitarist Sean Eden.
Check out these two tracks that are especially nice.
The album, “New Believers”, is due out on April 17th from Friendly Fire.
