Golden Smog Best Of Coming Soon

As a big fan of all things Wilco, I gravitate towards most side projects the band plays a role in, and Golden Smog is no exception. However, it is and has staygoldencover300 Golden Smog Best Of Coming Soonbecome much more than a side project, and if you are not familiar, boasts an incredibly talented list of members. The current lineup is made up of Gary Louris and Marc Perlman of Jayhawks fame, Dan Murphy of Soul Asylum and Kraig Jarret Johnson, who has played with Joseph Arthur and Run Westy Run among others.

Tweedy and Jody Stephens (Big Star) have also been Golden Smoggers at one time or another and their albums from the early 90′s have been and will always be a part of my collection. And now, a best of compilation is slated for release last month, that also includes a unreleased cover of Brian Wilson’s “Love & Mercy.”

Looks like a great collection of some of the best Golden Smog stuff, which is cleverly titled, Stay Golden, Smog, and it gets a release on September 23 from Rhino. Check out the full tracklisting after the jump.

And if you can’t wait, take a listen to some of the record for free right now….

Golden Smog Best Of Coming Soon

About

Joe started ENS in 2003 after most people he wanted to talk to about music were worn thin by his ramblings. The outlet this site provided helped out, and somehow is still going 9 years later. After a four year stint as a WOXY DJ, Joe returned to Cincinnati and continues to pioneer ENS. In addition to the overall look and feel of the site, Joe provides regular reviews, and kinda makes sure this whole thing stays afloat.
