Let me just say that it is good to have Imperial Teen back. The band, who has been on hiatus for over 5 years is about to officially return with a new album on Merge Records August 21st titled, The Hair, The TV, The Baby And The Band. The album title is an acronym waiting to happen at that length, but the songs are succinct and have the infectious pop sounds you probably remember if you were a fan of Imperial Teen in the past.
Overall, this is the fourth proper album from the band, but, as mentioned, it is the first since their 2002 album On. Much of the same that was said about that release applies to this one. Keyboard and guitar driven pop songs with near perfect harmonies dominate then, and now. One of the things I am noticing about the new album however is the obvious added maturity and refreshed sense of things after the time off.
