2010 is not even a week old and I have already heard something that I am in love with musically. It’s new stuff from a brand new group and they hail from our fertile hometown of Cincinnati Ohio. The new group is called Pop Empire and it sounds like nothing else I have heard in the tri-state area. The band boasts two talented vocalists, Cameron Cochran and Henrie Wilson.
You probably know Cameron from his time in The Sheds and several other musical ventures in the area over the past ten years or so. You probably do not know Wilson though, and his addition takes this effort to another level altogether. Packing a David Bowie meets T-Rex type of punch, Wilson’s vocals aptly compliment the familiar and comforting sounds that Cochran brings to the table. And with those vocals sitting atop the layers of sound the duo agreed would sound best, it’s nothing short of an eye opener.
This is easily the most accessible and at the same time daring I have heard Cameron be a part of, and he not only manages to pull it off, but might have orchestrated his best work to date.
Enough words for now, you need to hear this. Download the Pop Empire EP right now here in full, but first snag one two of our favorite songs from the release below.
