When it comes to Cincinnati music pioneers, there aren’t very many in the class of Jim Tarbell. The former vice-mayor, city councilman, saloon keeper, and rock promoter has done his best to keep the music scene here in Cincinnati vibrant for decades. That’s why this upcoming series at MOTR pub is pretty exciting. Have a look at the three events that have been planned.
Sunday, May 20; 2 p.m. Jim will discuss and answer questions about the Uptown music scene including the Ludlow Garage, the Black Dome and more during the 1960s and ’70s, and the impact the scene made on him and the neighborhood. Host David Rhodes Brown will facilitate the event and Brown Grass plays a set after.
Sunday, May 27; 2 p.m. Jim will discuss and answer questions about the Vine Street music scene in Over-the-Rhine during the 1950s and ’60s and the impact it made on him and the neighborhood. Host Ricky Nye will facilitate questions from the crowd and play a set after.
Sunday, June 3; 2 p.m. Jim will discuss and answer questions about the Main Street music scene over the years and the impact it has made on him and the Over-the-Rhine neighborhood. Host Katie Laur will facilitate the event and Katie Laur & Friends play a set after.
Each of these events will be recorded.
So do your best to make it out to one or all of the events where Mr. Tarbell will be answering questions and telling great stories about the Cincinnati music scene, past, present and future.
