When it comes to prolific songwriters, Ryan Adams takes the cake. He seems to have more tunes ready for more albums than anyone can seem to match this side of Bob Pollard. But Joseph Arthur has been challenging that recently, really ever since he formed his own label Lonely Astronaut Records a couple years ago.

Last year, Joe released what was an initially dissapointing album in Lets Just Be, which grew on me mostly thanks to an excellent Lounge Session he did at WOXY.com. And it is not that I need excellent spot on production, but Lets Just Be came off at first like a batch of rough demos that needed finishing. Well, 2008 is upon us, and so is the news that JA has quite a bit up his sleeve for the new year.

As Stereogum points out, Arthur will be releasing two EPs and a full length this year, all of which I guess, are already in the can. The first EP will be titled Could We Survive and will be out March 18th on Lonely Astronaut. Have a listen to the first tune to surface from the new album, “Rages Of Babylon.”
