Coming from the very heart of America in Stillwater, Oklahoma is Kunek, a indie outfit that has a laid back sound that soothes and synths its way into your heart. I think what grabbed me about this CD first was how incredibly accessible it was, easy to hear and enjoy.
I think in my old age I can appreciate that more and more, and Im not really that old, but I need a good record with a bit of a milder taste to even out things sometimes. With the sensibilities of an Aqualung but a bit darker and less in the love song department, though with just as much piano and harmonies. And as I see Ryan highlighted today, they do have some strong Radiohead tendencies, especially on tunes like “Bright Eyes”. Of course, this is a good thing and a really good album. Id humbly recommend it, pick it up September 12 from Playtyme.
