Montreal’s Land of Talk were one of many bands to play a session this week for WOXY down in Austin as a part of the SXSW festivities. I’ve been listening to most of the sessions and to this point, this one may have been my favorite. The band was energetic, fun and played an inspired set. The full mp3 download of the session will be up next week, but I have a couple songs today to tide you over in the meantime.
These two songs are from the bands EP, “Applause Cheer Boo Hiss” is full of fuzzy guitars and knock out vocals in the same vein as PJ Harvey or Cat Power. This EP has been out for almost a year now outside the US it finally gets a US street date next week, on March 20th. But you should also be on the lookout for something new from the band very soon, as they played some new songs in the WOXY session this week that sounded really great.
Land Of Talk – Speak To Me Bones
I loved them when they were in town with Takka Takka. I dare say that they were better!
