It’s been an interesting trip for Swedish singer songwriter Emil Svanängen, better known as Loney Dear. Since he released a string of albums in his homeland between 2003-2006 which gained him the attention of Sub Pop records, who released his excellent US debut album in 2007, Loney, Noir. Then came the re-release of his 2006 album Sologne last year.

And now, Emil is at it again, this time with a new label (Polyvinyl Records). The new album is titled Dear John, not to be confused with the first single from Loney, Noir, “I Am John.” I’ve only been through the new disc a couple times, but I will say that the lead track, Airport Surroundings, is an absolute hit. For those that have been lulled to sleep by Loney, Dear in the past, this song is begging to be re-mixed.

Already having supported acts like Of Montreal, The Sea & Cake and Athlete on previous tours, Loney, Dear is heading out on the road with the likes of Andrew Bird at the end of the month. All those dates listed after the jump.
