One of my favorite releases this year is the sophomore effort from Matisyahu. Im always intrigued by originality and the artist also known as Matthew Miller has an original flavor all his own. I mean, find me another hasidic jew doing reggae over hip hop beats while boasting a rabbi look. I think im struck by how I cannot possibly stop nodding along to these tunes though, and its not just to the hooky laden title track, Youth. Ive found the whole album to be full of inspiring lyrics and upbeat addictive sounds. I dont consider myself a reggae expert by any stretch, but I do appreciate when I hear someone like Matisyahu. I regret missing his trip through Cincinnati earlier this year already as Im convinced he is amazing live, if his last album Live at Stubbs is any indicator.
