I think one of the things that gets lost in the shuffle sometimes on indie-centric blogs like this one is pure delicate songwriting. I tend to appreciate the sound and energy of a young indie band more than how a song was put together and structured. Thats why, when I first heard Michael Zapruders Rain of Frogs I thought it too laid back for my tastes.
However, Im here today to admit defeat. The laid back, ethereal and well constructed sounds of the upcoming album, “New Ways of Letting Go” is just what the doctor ordered for an indie rock vacation. Not to mention the musical talent assembled in Nate Query from the Decemberists, Jonathan Segel from Camper Van Beethoven, Scott Pinkmountain from Pink Mountain, Scott Solter of Tiny Telephone, Jon Bernson from Ray’s Vast Basement, and some fifteen others.
