If you like your surf-rock California-fried, you’re probably already planning on catching Bleached at MidPoint this year. If you haven’t heard of them yet, you should take a listen to their excellent debut album, Ride Your Heart. Lots of folks said it was the perfect album to usher in spring and summer for 2013, but, in my mind, it never really got the mass buzz and recognition it deserved.

Bleached’s sound is comparable to other reverby indie rock girl-groups like Best Coast and Vivian Girls, but to simply name-check these obvious references is a little lazy. It should be noted that the creative forces behind Bleached are the Clavin sisters, who previously played in the legendary L.A. punk band Mika Miko. That alone is reason enough to make time for Bleached on your personal MidPoint schedule.

Show up, tune out, chill out.

MidPoint Music Festival 2013 Preview: Bleached

John Crowell began writing for Each Note Secure in 2009. He writes interviews and live reviews. Because he likes things that are weird for the sake of being weird, he is Each Note Secure’s resident aggressively unpleasant music enthusiast.

When not on the internet, John enjoys drinking banana daiquiris.
