Yes, I know it is Thursday, and Midpoint is kicking off tongiht. But we have already previewed Thursday, so it is on to Friday we go. And as strong at Thursday looks to kick off this years Midpoint Music Festival, Friday might be even stronger. I know I will be ready for Day 2 and the start of the weekend. Have a look at the picks I recommend you check out below. And as always, try something outside of your comfort zone as well, you might end up with a new favorite band.
Friday
Rosehips – 8pm @ the WOXY.com stage (Aronoff)
***All female band brings the rock n roll straight from Columbus. A great start for your Friday night.
The Hiders – 9pm @ Southgate House
Alone at 3AM – 9:45 @ Southgate House (Parlour)
***Locals bring a strong alt-country rock vibe to their music, sounds alot like Lucero or Drive-By Truckers.
The Swimmers – 10pm @ Know Theatre (Downstairs)
***Philadelphia indie poppers are one of my “most underrated” choices of the weekend. Definitely worth checking out.
Say Hi – 10pm @ WOXY.com stage (Aronoff)
Look Mexico – 10pm @ Blue Wisp
A.A. Bondy – 11pm @ Know Theatre (Main Stage)
***Singer/songwriter that sounds like Josh Rouse but plays guitar like M. Ward.
Pearlene – 11pm @ Lodge Bar
The Seedy Seeds – 11pm @ Subway Bar
Jukebox the Ghost – 11pm @ WOXY.com stage (Aronoff)
Southeast Engine – 11pm @ New Stage Collective
***Athens, Ohio based band released a great album earlier this year on Misra Records, great midwestern indie rock.
Pomegranates – 12am @ Blue Wisp
Eat Sugar – 12am @ Courtyard Cafe
Buffalo Killers – 12am @ Lodge Bar
And I won’t get into details, but what are you gonna choose for the midnight slot? It is like a who’s who of great Cincinnati bands! Eat Sugar, Buffalo Killers, Pomegranates!
Good luck, have fun and stay tuned for updates from Midpoint here on ENS!
