Well, its been a helluva weekend already here in Indianapolis. About 48 hours of music behind us and a whole day an night to go yet. Im taking in Broad Ripple Village this weekend and its a great little area for good food, micro brews and of course, Starbucks. I sit at the Bucks right now next to Eric from Marathonpacks as he has so diligently made this day 2 thoughts on the weekend already. Me, not so much. But Ill catch up.

Day One-
I arrived in Indy on Thursday and headed from the hotel to a rainy scene at the Monkeys Tail for a meet and greet intro bash. Free PBRs and food probably didnt bring us all here but it certainly kept everyone talking. I met some great bands, label, and PR folks in our time dodging rain and hearing tunes from Everything Now, Page France and others.
From there we started to become familar with the area a bit, grabbing a few micro brews and allowing EJ to try out hipcast on us. You can hear the muddled results here. The sad thing is that I dont think anyone is actually even drunk.

The main event for the evening however was at the largest venue in the neighborhood, the Vogue. First up was The Hot IQs whom I thought were interesting but sounded alot like most indie rock bands of current day, even so, they got the wheels moving. After them Eric highly recommended Those Young Lions, some guys he has known forever and they were worthy of the Marathonpacks stamp of approval. The guttural voice of the lead singer was a welcome addition to Day 1.

Silversun Pickups played by far the best set of the night next. The energy in the room was amazing and I can tell now why these guys have gotten such rave reviews for their live show. (Which reminds me, Silversun played a lounge act at WOXY last week also, download that below.) Margot and the Nuclear So and Sos finished the evening out and were in great form on their home turf. As you can see by the photos I took their set in about halfway back but still enjoyed it thouroughly. Day Two thoughts to follow soon including notes from The Blogger Panel!
