[MPMF 2012] Artist Capsule: Hundred Waters

Pitchfork: “Their debut does more than enough to stand on its own, not only ambitious in its own right, but leaving little doubt about Hundred Waters’ capability of handling wherever their ambition takes them from here.”

I’ve been sitting back and waiting. Waiting for a band to come along that isn’t well known to achieve the ‘don’t miss this’ status for this years MidPoint Music Festival. Well, I’m pretty confident that I have that band for you today. Hundred Waters are that band and I urge you not to miss their set at MPMF.

The five piece band comes to us from Florida, and the atmospheric sound they possess is nothing short of intoxicating.

I’ve been listening to the band for a few weeks, their self titled debut is fantastic, but I really wondered how it would translate to a live setting. Then I got ahold of this live video, and fell for Hundred Waters, big time.

The live atmosphere they lay out in the video and in concert (from what I’ve been told) is nothing short of brilliant. Sorry for the hyperbole here, but it’s been too long since I went all in on a band and I’m ready to do that with Hundred Waters.

Hey Joe, great pick/declaration behind Hundred Waters!
You are obviously dialed in and I completely agree.
I’m feeling fiesty and want to challenge you to a dual.
It’s not hard to find “Don’t Missers” in this years crop of under exposed MPMFers.
Consider Wild Belle my provocative glove slap across your face.

Thanks Dan, nice challenge. Wild Belle is a great choice, and is an instant schedule conflict since they play at the same time as Cloud Nothings.
