Newgrass youngins Nickle Creek are calling it quits, uhmmm next year. I guess this is a reason why the fire should die?

Dearest Listener,
After seven years of extensive touring in support of three records (seventeen years as a band), we’ve decided to take a break of indefinite length at the end of 2007 to preserve the environment we’ve sought so hard to create and to pursue other interests. It has been a pleasure to write, record, and perform for you through the years and we’d like to heartily thank you for your invaluable contribution to our musical lives.
Yours,
Nickel Creek

More on the split from Billboard.
Been a big fan of these guys thanks to my wife turning me on to them. Seems like the only good news is that Chris Thile is stepping up his solo work, with a new one due out soon titled “How to Grow a Woman from the Ground.” He covers the likes of The Strokes, The White Stripes and Gillian Welch. The Gum has the Strokes track.

I’ve been lucky enough to see you guys a couple time in Des Moines, IA. The last time, at Hoyt Sherman Theater, is rivaled only by the 1000th concert by Yonder Mountain SB at the Simon Estes Amphitheater. I look forward tto the work that you will do in the future with other groups and as solos. I hope one day you will reunite for one more unbelievable album. Thanks for the music, Art Behn

I can only imagine the experiences you have had , good and bad, during your brief time playing and performing the incredible music you have given us all. You must surely feel that it is the the right thing to do but I sincerely hope you stay. You are such a talent and will be greatly missed if you leave.
I hope you stay.
