One of Cincinnati’s best known music couples have a new album to promote. Over The Rhine are ready to hit the road this spring in support of their latest effort, The Long Surrender, which was released via the band’s own label Great Speckled Dog (named for the couple’s Great Dane, Elroy) label on February 8th.

“The Long Surrender” is a decent, but not great album, certainly not in comparison to truly classic OtR albums like “Ohio” and “Films for “Radio” (or “Eve”, if you really wanna go ‘classic’). I enjoy even “The Trumpet Child” more than TLS.

That said, there is no question that the TLS songs sound stronger live than they do on the CD.

OtR is truly one of Cincinnati’s main musical ambassadors.
