Tonight: Band Of Horses In Cincinnati

Post Thumbnail of Tonight: Band Of Horses In Cincinnati

It’s been a wild ride for Band Of Horses in the past four years plus. It doesn’t feel that long ago, but ENS remembers seeing BOH on their very first trip through the Queen City back in 2006. Yeah, that was when we really didn’t know how to …

Smashing Pumpkins headlined the second night of the Forecastle Festival tonight, and really had the crowd in the palms of their hands. We have some words and pics from the whole day to share soon, but wanted to give you an instant reaction and a couple photos right away.

Forecastle Festival 2010 Preview

Post Thumbnail of Forecastle Festival 2010 Preview

Forecastle Festival starts tomorrow, and Team ENS is getting pretty psyched. Fearless Leader Joe, Keith and I will be down there all three days to tweet, take photos and sweat through at least 6 t-shirts a piece. Blazing heat aside, I’m looking forward to my first trip to Forecastle for what promises to be an amazing lineup. I mean, seriously – Flaming Lips? Devo? Spoon? Cake? It’s an endless list of awesome, and ENS will be there for all of it. Here’s a preview of some of the bands I’m anticipating at 2010’s Forecastle Festival.

Drive-By Truckers Playing In Store @ Shake It Records

 Cincinnati and Music News

As I saw our friends at Shake It Records say when announcing this in store performance, “It’s gonna be hot, packed & fun!” And that is exactly what you can expect when one of the best live bands around does a small in store performance at our favorite record …

Post Thumbnail of Indie Summer Goes Local Tonight

The Indie Summer series brought to you by the folks at MidPoint Music Festival continues tonight on Fountain Square. And tonight, it’s an ultra local offering. Not that it isn’t usually, because every Indie Summer has at least one local band on the bill, but this particular evening …

ENS Interview: Free Energy

Post Thumbnail of ENS Interview: Free Energy
 Interviews and Music News

Free Energy originally started when two brothers, Scott and Evan Wells, and their friend, Paul Sprangers, left their home of Red Wing, Minnesota after the breakup of indie rock combo Hockey Night. They guys landed in Philadelphia, where they eventually joined up with Geoff Bucknam and Nick Shuminsky to form the deliberately and unironically heavy-jamming, guitar-blasting, hook-worshiping, feel-good rock band Free Energy.

Over The Rhine Live @ Monastery Studios

 Cincinnati and Live Reviews

Over The Rhine are a Cincinnati music institution. Much like The Afghan Whigs and more recently Heartless Bastards, OTR are a band that wherever they go and whatever they do, will always be closely associated with Cincinnati. Of course, the bands name is part of the reason, but their sound and the memories they have provided for fans tie them to the tri-sta

Mates Of State – Live @ 20th Century Theatre

Post Thumbnail of Mates Of State - Live @ 20th Century Theatre
Cincinnati, Live Reviews and Music News

The Mates of State travelling road show made its way to the 20th Century Theatre in Oakley on Monday. Really, that’s the only way to describe it. Between the magician who got lukewarm-at-best reactions from the early crowd, comedian Todd Barry, Free Energy and the headliners, there was something for everyone. But that’s bound to be true with acts this disparate.

MidPoint Music Festival Lineup Beefs Up

Post Thumbnail of MidPoint Music Festival Lineup Beefs Up

I know how I felt when I saw the initial lineup for this fall’s MidPoint Music Festival earlier this year. I thought, alright, that’s decent I guess, but is that all? If that had been it, I’m sure it would have been another solid year but not what …
