In what promises to be the best MidPoint Music Festival in it’s short history, this years lineup was rolled out in phases over the past couple of months. And now today, we get to take all of those names and match them with a venue and a set time …

The National are back. And it’s not like they really ever left. The band that grew up in Ohio but did most of their musical maturing in New York returned to the Buckeye state Monday night showcasing their latest and possibly greatest album to date, High Violet.
We have made no secret about our love for The Besnard Lakes and their incredible 2010 album …Are The Roaring Night. The record will end up in my top albums of the year, and I say this with a full 7 months remaining in 2010.

The Scottish band Frightened Rabbit has been building a loyal following over the last few years as they have put out their first three albums. The most recent record is called “The Winter of Mixed Drinks†and it has been received well both stateside and abroad. The band is currently touring the US in support of the album and drummer Grant Hutchison agreed to speak with Each Note Secure on an off day from Washington DC.

Frightened Rabbit are coming to town, playing a show at Southgate House this Thursday night along with Maps & Atlases and Our Brother The Native. The Glasgow band are making what I think might be their first trip to the Cincinnati area and will also be playing a special in store performance at Shake-It Records in Northside.

Quasi has been around for years, but they’re also a band with an unpredictable streak who aren’t afraid to vastly reinvent themselves, so I wasn’t sure what to expect as I headed in to their show at the Southgate House on Friday night. Luckily, the current incarnation of the group has obviously had enough practice and road time to produce an impressively solid set.

It’s the first song on their new album, High Violet, and it really sets the tone for the entire record. The song is “Terrible Love” and it’s also the first song to get the music video treatment.
