Sometimes we get ahold of a new album months in advance of its release. We sit on it, chew and try to come up with our thoughts about it before you consume it. And other times, and album drops into our lap and yours at the same time, and we consume it together. Today is a case of the latter as Cincinnati duo Pop Empire have released their debut full length album, The Devil’s Party, via The Recording Label with little to no notice. So consider this more of warning than a review, but after one turn through The Devil’s Party, we will say it’s a major step forward from one of the most promising new acts in Cincinnati in 2010.

And as mentioned, the new Pop Empire album is available for free download (MP3 or WAV) from The Recording Label, which is run by Cameron Cochran, one half of Pop Empire. So do yourself a favor and download the new album right away. Then, you can pay your dues for the freebie by checking out We Are Hex, Pop Empire and their Recording Label buddies Sacred Spirits on February 4th at the Southgate House. I can’t think of a better show to recommend right now, so put it on your calendar.

About

Joe started ENS in 2003 after most people he wanted to talk to about music were worn thin by his ramblings. The outlet this site provided helped out, and somehow is still going 9 years later. After a four year stint as a WOXY DJ, Joe returned to Cincinnati and continues to pioneer ENS. In addition to the overall look and feel of the site, Joe provides regular reviews, and kinda makes sure this whole thing stays afloat.
