This Saturday it returns. For the 5th year in a row, we have a day dedicated to shopping at local record stores! Of course, this year we celebrate with loads of exclusives at independent record stores across the country, and there are loads of options in our own city when it comes to where you can spend your time and money. For a full listing of the events at stores around, follow this link, it’s got all the basics. But what I like to do is give you a run down of the releases I’m most interested in, and of course give you some details about what is happening at my personal store of choice, Shake It Records.
First off, the performances. Leading off is Bad Veins at 5PM to celebrate their new release, The Mess We’ve Made, which Shake It will have for sale early (not officially out until the 24th). The Bad Veins then pack it up & head off to the Taft Theater Ballroom for part two of their release party. Then it’s Walk The Moon’s turn at 7PM who also have their own Record Store Day release, Anna Sun/Anyway I Can 7″ and their new 3 song Anna Sun CDep to celebrate.
Like in year’s past you can get 10% off your entire purchase when you bring canned food items for C.A.I.N.’s Food Pantry ( Churches Active In Northside ) .
There are also a couple of new volumes in the Shake It Eddie Hinton series that will be available including one w/ Heartless Bastards , Wussy & Buffalo Killers.
