Sera Cahoone is a singer/songwriter out of Seattle but her voice and picking would fit in just as well in the deep south. Sera has a rich musical past as a former member of the seattle band Carissas Wierd as well as contributing to the Band of Horses debut album last year on drums. If this debut disc is any indication though, you may not see her spending much time behind the kit from here on out. She has been compared to many of the best females in the alt-country game like Gillian Welch and Neko Case.
Cahoone has decided to break out on her own last year and its paying off in big ways as Subpop has recently announced that she is now a part of the labels family. They will be re-releasing her self titled debut. Sera also landed in NPR‘s Top 10 Albums of 2006. Here is a quote from that article…
“her true calling lies in gorgeous solo Americana, propelled by strings, slide guitars and a voice that radiates kindness and comfort. A warm and wise ode to moments of silence, “Couch Song” is a knockout ringer”
