Vancouver’s own Shapes And Sizes are back with their second full length, titled, Split Lips, Winning Hips, A Shiner. The experimental band moved from Victoria during the time in between albums #1 and #2 and they also seemed to have moved their sound into an even more layered space as well. The first song, “Alone/Alive” is a explosion of instrumentation mixed with the off beat and shimmering vocals from lead singer, Caila Thompson-Hannant. Hannant seems to have a knack for singing in that offbeat manner and then bursting into a harmony that catches you off guard.

Overall, it is a more consistent album than the debut self titled disc, and it is also notable that Asthamatic Kitty labelmate Rafter Roberts provided the mixing expertise for Split Lips. The album is due out on May 22nd from AK, but you can sample two songs right away below.
