On my desk, which is filled with stacks of music, some listened to, others neglected, this disc from Siberian keeps staring at me. I gave it a listen a while back and decided I would be writing about it, and soon. But for whatever reason, it got neglected. And this week I picked it back up and remembered why it caught my attention the first time around.
These guys out of Seattle make some very big sounding pop/rock music on this album, and while most indie rock bands of their ilk tend to know thier place, Siberian seem to be ready for an arena tour. I say that because songs like “Belgian Beer and Catholic Girls” could be the type of song that made it’s way onto a setlist for a 90′s brit-pop act. It also brings to mind a bit of shoegaze and a touch of Interpol from time to time. Yes, it sounds big. At any rate, check the aformentioned tune from their upcoming release, With Me, and let me know what you think.
The album will be out on October 23 from Sonic Boom Recordings.
