If you happen to like banjo toting, folk leaning tunes the way that I do, Simple Kid may be up your alley. Simple Kid (Ciaran McFeely) is releasing his second full length album on August 7th, and for those familiar with this first album, of course titled 1, this new one will be both different and inspired.
“Simp” as he is most commonly known at this point, took the songs from his first album, dumped them into the computer and did a full wash, rinse, repeat with the material to come up with his first record, which was recorded at home and released by himself. This time around, YepRoc is releasing the album, and the computer process has been mostly tossed aside in favor of the simplicity of the music.
Simp also is really just now coming back to the world of music in an official way too. After touring his first album, burnout set in and he dropped it all in favor of a regular 9-5 job at a local video shop for a few years before the music called him back to make this record. Have a listen to this song from the album, 2.
Looks like the GUM is onto him too, check there for a couple other MP3s.
