Slaraffenland – Private Cinema

Its been over a year since we took you on a trip toslaraffenland.jpg Slaraffenland (danish for land of milk and honey), and now its time to make a return voyage as the band prepares to release what could be their breakout album in Private Cinema. We have a tendency to loves the Danes, and these guys are no exception. The sonic landscape they cover is vast and deep. Bringing to mind some of the best of Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Explosions in the Sky on drugs. Its gotten the attention of several bloggers and recently even garnered a slot from Stereogum as a “band to watch”.
Slaraffenland have hooked up with the good people from Home Tapes in order to properly unveil their music to the USA and it couldnt be a better pairing. Im going to share two songs from the album today, of which could change your day for the better. The album will be available for purchase from HomeTapes on May 15th.

I also love the blurb on the promo copy, so much I must quote it….

“Full -blooded, jazz damaged artpop from Scandinavia’s most enjoyably confounding export. Head music for your heart. This album just might make 2007 worth it.”

You can catch the guys down south next week in Austin for SXSW as well, as they play as part of a three day music/art exhibition dubbed Friend Island. More specifically, they are playing the HomeTapes party, which will take place March 14th at Mohawk and will take the stage at around midnight.
