While we certainly champion alot of bands here on ENS, it is pretty rare that I champion what I consider to be a cause. Well, today is an exception as tomorrow is Record Store Day here in the US. You may notice it is called “Record Store Day”, not big box retailer day or ITunes day. No, this is a day set aside to really focus on supporting your local indie record store of choice, if you are lucky enough to have one in your area. Even if you don’t this might be a good time for a road trip. I cannot stress to you how important these types of shops are to independent music as a whole.

Here in Cincinnati we are lucky enough to have one of the best record stores in the Midwest in our backyard, Shake It Records.

Not only does this give you an excuse to hit up a great store like Shake It, but there are some very enticing Record Store Day items out there you should do your best to add to your collection. Just got this from Darren at “Shake It” regarding the goods you can find there tomorrow….

1. Death Cab for Cutie “I Will Possess Your Heart 10” mix” b/w “I Will Possess Your Heart 7” mix

3. Panic at the Disco “Nine in the Afternoon” b/w “Pas de Cheval” 7″
4. R.E.M. “Supernatural Superserious” b/w Airliner 7″

12. The Teenagers - Love No 3 X 7″ vinyl bundle
13. : Stephen Malkmus - Cold Son 10″ (Just so ya know this might not make it til 4/22 - or so I’ve been told)

Wow, that is quite an impressive list of goodies, especially if you are a vinyl head like myself. And oh yeah, did I mention that everything is 15% off? Thats right, vinyl, CDs, all designer vinyl figures, mags, books, everything. EVERYTHING. Hope to see you at Shake It Tomorrow for Record Store Day!
