If you like your guitars thick and drony, you probably will love Surf City. The New Zealand based band has just released a new record, and it’s flying way below the radar. Maybe it’s the timing of the release, but it seems like Surf City never gets mentioned when it comes to lo-fi psych pop that is starting to become incredibly popular in indie circles.

While bands like Cloud Nothings, Wavves, and Sleigh Bells get the recognition, and deservedly so, Surf City seems to be slept on. So, lets do our part in attempting to change that by letting you know about one of the better albums of the year called Kudos.

We became fast fans last year when Morr Music put out the debut EP from Surf City, which was oozing with potential, and now the debut full length is upon us, and we can’t help but love it. Try out a free MP3 below from the album, and

About

Joe started ENS in 2003 after most people he wanted to talk to about music were worn thin by his ramblings. The outlet this site provided helped out, and somehow is still going 9 years later. After a four year stint as a WOXY DJ, Joe returned to Cincinnati and continues to pioneer ENS. In addition to the overall look and feel of the site, Joe provides regular reviews, and kinda makes sure this whole thing stays afloat.
